Kris Prasad is an Indo-Fijian and a fifth-generation descendant of Girmitiyas. He is a fierce activist, disruptor, community organiser, and facilitator with over 14 years of experience in grassroots advocacy for democracy, human rights, and social justice in Fiji.

Kris worked for the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement for several years before moving to the UK to pursue a Master of Arts- Sexual Dissidence program at the University of Sussex as a Chevening Scholar. Kris has worked for various international development projects for the last two years as a Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion specialist. Currently, Kris is coordinating the 3rd Pacific Human Rights Conference on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression and Sex Characteristics held in Nadi in April 2024. In his free time, Kris is an active community leader. He is the President of the Leadership Fiji Alumni, the Chair of the Board for Wainibokasi Hospital, and an organiser and facilitator for Chai and Chat, a monthly social support space for queer Indo-Fijians.
